About This Spot

Stepping into AL Madina Grocery & Deli feels like finding a slice of the Middle East tucked comfortably into the heart of Brandon. It’s the kind of place where the pace slows just a bit, inviting you to linger over rich aromas and friendly, familiar faces in a space that hums quietly with daily life. Although modest in size, the deli offers an intimate atmosphere – a crossroads between the bustling energy of a neighborhood market and the warm familiarity of a home kitchen.

The mingling scents of fresh pita bread baking, earthy za’atar, and roasted spices create an invisible thread connecting every corner, from the grocery aisles stocked with Turkish olive oil and traditional ingredients to the few tables where people savor memorable meals. Here, food feels like an open invitation to explore — whether it’s the satisfying bite of a falafel tucked into soft pita, the layered flavors of a beef shawarma platter, or the delicate sweetness of freshly made baklava enjoyed alongside rich Turkish coffee.

Dining at AL Madina isn’t rushed. It’s a softly vibrant moment to appreciate authentic flavors crafted with care, mindful of tradition yet welcoming to new tastes and dietary preferences. Vegetarians and meat lovers find equal delight, and the spread of salads, grilled kabobs, and special ice creams offer something thoughtful for every palate. The friendly service and genuine warmth from the family behind the counter make every visit feel less like ordering food and more like sharing a meal with friends.

Whether you pause here to pick up rare ingredients or stay a while to enjoy a handmade gyro sandwich, this local gem quietly celebrates community – one fresh, deliberate bite at a time.

Having 3 Thanksgiving dinners on our schedule this year, we decided to host one that was not as traditional. We had ordered our meal at AL Madina Food Grill & Deli and truly savored every bit of it. The food was amazing! So fresh, full of flavor, delicious, and with a number of vegetarian options. Our Thanksgiving 2022 menu consisted of grilled lamb chops, chicken kebab, falafel, rice, tabbouleh salad, hummus, cheese pie with zatar, spinach pie, spiced pickled veggies, pita bread, and knafeh. The owners and staff were kind, generous, and shared the love of their food with us, giving us the opportunity to taste certain items before we ordered. Our menu was placed the day before and ready the next day as requested at 5pm. The owner made sure everything was to our satisfaction and the staff assisted us to load everything into our vehicle. We highly recommend AL Madina Food Grill & Deli for lunch or your next gathering, you will definitely be pleased!

Brandon does not have a lot of "mom and pop" restaurants to choose from, and this is most definitely worth the visit. All the food is served made to order and it is so good. The Beef Shawarma platter was melt in your mouth good, as was the gyro platter and the stuffed grape leaves were as good, if not better, than my best friend's mom used to make (she was from Greece). Everything was fresh and so good. They gave us enough food that my husband and I each had two meals out of our platter. I'd give them 10 stars, if I could!

This place is a little gem. Amazing food, very flavourful. Its a restaurant within a grocery store, they have few tables to sit and dine in. Very nice people. We tried their falafel, baba ganoush, hummus, lentil soup and rice, everything was vegan and had amazing taste. Resonably priced too!. Will come back again for sure!

Efficiently managed the restricted space available inside the store. Prices are fair as per today's inflated markets. Mostly Turkish products. Fresh food is delicious and has a decent variety to order from the menu. Must try the fresh baklava. Friendly and kind service. A great family run small business.

Just wow. Mashallah no longer have to go up to bush when this gem is here. Update: 9/26/25 still as good as the first time ordered the same thing along with the kibbeh and a shawarma wrap for my son and daughter and they loved it.

WOW! Stopped in Tampa for the night and this popped up on Google maps! I got the chicken kebab plate! Everything was so flavorful! The chicken was juicy and delicious, along with the hummus and pita!! I would have definitely ordered more pita!

They have items that I can't find in other shops, including Afghan saffron and special spices. Their deli is delicious and a must try. The chicken kebab over rice was so juicy and flavorful, plus they loaded it with sides and all the toppings you want... very generous portions. My toddler loved all their food, and she's a picky eater. Vegetarians will love the falafel. The baba ganoush is great, especially if you ask them to do the special spices on them. The service was very good, and the lady was sweet and kind, very hospitable and patient. I have very high standards for baklava, and they're only the 2nd place I've found in Tampa that has real authentic properly prepared baklava :)
